Computers have been used to assist education at Robert College since 1977. One of the original computers that existed at the school was a Wang. Ten Sinclair Spectrum machines arrived in the early 80s and were housed in Mitchell 104. The Sait Halman Computer Center, as we know it today, came into existence in 1985. The facilities of the present center were donated by Mr. Talat S. Halman as a memory to his son Sait Selim Halman, who tragically died in 1983. His son showed great promise in Computer Science and so it was a fitting tribute.
In April 1985, the Sait Halman Computer Center was officially opened with 12 Apple Ivies which had 64K memory each.
As of September 2012, there are 75 desktop PCs in the three computer labs with i7 CPUs and 8GB RAM. There are 25 desktop PCs in the library and 25 in the student residences with color printing and scanning facilities. All computer labs are equipped with Smartboards which can be booked through RC’s online reservation system.
