RC Hosts Debating Championship

RC Hosts Debating Championship

The seventh annual Eurasian Schools Debating Championship (EDSC) was held at Robert College during the first week of the semester break, on January 22-26. Twenty-six teams from diverse countries including Pakistan, Korea, Sweden, Greece and Turkey, attended the tournament.

The topics of the debates ranged from economics and health policies to feminism and human rights. Debaters were engaged in global issues, ethics, and international politics; they were challenged, excited and inspired.

KGS A from Pakistan became the champions of EDSC 2018, by winning the final round over the Greece National team, debating the motion "THBT states should actively seek to prevent the creation of megacities".

Organized by the Robert College Debate Society, ESDC is considered one of the best debating championships in the world and attracts many national teams and debaters from different countries each year. It is the only debate tournament organized by high school students, and the only international debating tournament in Turkey.
