Harvard Commends Student Writers

What is the biggest challenge facing women and girls in your country today? Almost thirty students responded to that prompt for a Harvard essay competition last spring. The Annual GlobalWE Book Prize Contest is run by Harvard Alumni for Global Women's Empowerment (GlobalWE). The contest was established to encourage students to think critically about the status and rights of women. This was the first time the Book Prize Contest was offered in Turkey.

Students' writing was judged on how well they identified the chosen challenge facing women, and the quality of the suggested solution. Two Certificates of Excellence were given to the winners: Elif Nazli Hamutcu L11, and Armanc Keser L12. Each winner received a book prize and a letter of commendation. All participants received a Certificate of Achievement. There will be another competition held in the spring of 2017.
